We offer New York-to-South Carolina movers for Long Island and Queens households relocating to the coast, the Lowcountry, and the Upstate. We are a long-distance moving and storage company, and one company handles the whole job: the clear-out, the storage, and the drive south. That matters most for the retirees and seniors who make up a large share of the people we move.

How We Handle a Move From New York to South Carolina

Long Distance Service From Long Island to the Palmetto State

We load homes throughout Long Island and in parts of Queens for moves to South Carolina. The long distance moving plan starts with your destination, since a condo on the Grand Strand, a gated home on Hilton Head, and a Charleston single house each need a different delivery setup. The more you tell us about the new property, the fewer surprises on delivery day.

Downsizing for Retirees Heading to South Carolina

A move south after retirement often means trading a multi-level Long Island house for a one-floor home or a condo. Deciding what goes before the truck is booked keeps the load, and the move, the right size. Measure the rooms in your South Carolina home early and choose furniture by what fits there.

Estate and Garage Clean-Outs Before the Move

Our junk removal service clears the attic, basement, and garage items that are not making the trip. For families settling a parent’s house before a move, it turns a long clean-out into a scheduled job.

Keeping Items in Storage Back in New York

Not every piece has to leave New York on the same day. We run storage units on Long Island for the furniture, keepsakes, and seasonal items you want to hold onto while you settle in down south.

What South Carolina Movers Run Into on the Coast

Gated Communities on Hilton Head and in Bluffton

Many Hilton Head and Bluffton neighborhoods sit behind staffed gates, and moving trucks go through the commercial side of the gate process. In Sea Pines, service providers buy a daily or weekly commercial pass at the Greenwood or Ocean Gate, and larger commercial vehicles pay a higher daily fee. Owners cannot request a regular guest pass for a commercial vendor, and commercial access runs on set hours. Sun City Hilton Head also requires a commercial pass once work begins at a home.

Before move day, call your community’s security or gate office and ask how moving trucks are cleared, what hours they may enter, and whether you need to call in the delivery. Pass that information along to us when you book.

Charleston’s Historic Peninsula

Downtown Charleston is one of the hardest places in the state to park a moving truck. Many peninsula streets are narrow or one-way, older homes often have no driveway, and some blocks fall inside resident permit parking districts. On-street meters run Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The City of Charleston handles reserved meter spaces and street obstruction permits through its traffic and parking offices. If your new home is on the peninsula, check what the block allows and whether a reserved space or permit is needed for the truck, and ask about it at least a few weeks before delivery.

South Carolina Property Tax Steps for New Homeowners

Apply for the 4 Percent Legal Residence Rate

South Carolina taxes an owner-occupied primary home at a 4 percent assessment ratio, while other property is taxed at 6 percent. The lower rate is not automatic. You must file a legal residence application with your county assessor after you own and move into the home, and county assessors put the savings at about one-third of the tax bill. Most counties tie the deadline to January 15, the first tax penalty date, so file soon after you move in.

The Homestead Exemption for Homeowners 65 and Older

South Carolina offers a Homestead Exemption for qualifying homeowners age 65 and older, as well as certain disabled or legally blind homeowners. The exemption amount can change by tax year, so check the current amount and eligibility requirements with the South Carolina Department of Revenue or your county auditor.

Registering Your Car in South Carolina Starts at the County Office

South Carolina taxes vehicles as personal property every year, and SCDMV will not register a car until that county tax is paid. The order below keeps you from making two trips.
