We work as New York-to-Georgia movers for Long Island and Queens households relocating to metro Atlanta and other Georgia communities. Moves south along the East Coast are the center of our long distance work, and Georgia is one of our priority routes. We also run junk removal and Long Island storage, so the clear-out and any items you are not bringing yet stay with one company.

What Our New York to Georgia Moves Include

Long Distance Moving From Long Island and Queens to Georgia

We pick up throughout Long Island and in parts of Queens for moves to Georgia. With our long distance moving service, your home is loaded in New York and carried more than 800 miles south to the new address. The sooner we know the street, the building, and any HOA rules at the Georgia end, the better the delivery plan.

Right-Sizing a Senior’s Move to Georgia

Seniors are a big part of the households we move, and many of them are heading south. These moves go smoother when the family agrees early on which furniture, heirlooms, and boxes are coming. Walk each room with the Georgia floor plan in hand and mark what goes, what gets stored, and what gets hauled away.

Hauling Away What Stays Behind

Once the keep list is set, our junk removal service clears out everything else. Scheduling it ahead of moving day leaves the house empty and ready for a sale or closing after the truck pulls away.

Storage on Long Island While You Get Settled

If the Georgia home is smaller or not ready yet, part of your household can stay in our Long Island storage until you send for it. It is a practical middle step for families who are not ready to sell a piece that has been in the family for decades.

Delivering Inside and Outside Atlanta's Perimeter

Atlanta locals split the metro by Interstate 285, the Perimeter. Homes inside it are called ITP and suburbs outside it are OTP, and that line shapes how a moving truck reaches your door.

Georgia law keeps trucks with more than six wheels off I-75, I-85, I-20, and GA 400 inside the Perimeter, with exceptions for pickups and deliveries at addresses inside I-285. A household delivery to an ITP address is allowed, but the truck has to route to it rather than cut through. Tell us your exact Georgia address, not just “Atlanta,” so the route is planned around the rule.

Metro Atlanta has more than six million people and heavy freight traffic, and express lane construction on I-285 and GA 400 is expected to run through 2036. Build a little slack into the delivery day, and have someone at the house who can meet the truck even if it arrives later than planned.

Georgia's One-Time Title Tax and Your First 30 Days

Georgia does not charge annual property tax on most vehicles. Instead, new residents pay a one-time title ad valorem tax, or TAVT, of 3 percent of the vehicle’s fair market value when they title the car in Georgia. The deadlines are short, so plan these steps for your first month.

Step Deadline Where
Get a Georgia driver license or ID Within 30 days of becoming a resident, and before you register Department of Driver Services (DDS)
Title and register your vehicle and pay the 3% TAVT Within 30 days of moving to Georgia County tag office
Pass an emissions inspection Before renewal, in 13 metro Atlanta counties Georgia Clean Air Force station

Your out-of-state registration stops being valid in Georgia 30 days after you move, and late registration brings penalties. The Georgia Department of Revenue has a TAVT calculator online so you can budget for the tax before you go.

Filing for Georgia's Homestead Exemption

Georgia’s homestead exemptions cut property tax on the home you own and live in. To qualify for a given year, you must own and occupy the home as your legal residence on January 1, then file with your county by April 1. A closing in early January means waiting a year, so if your dates are flexible, closing and moving in by late December starts the savings a year sooner.

The standard statewide exemption takes $2,000 off the assessed value, and many counties add larger local exemptions. Homeowners 65 and older can qualify for extra state relief based on income, and many counties exempt most or all school taxes for seniors. Each county sets its own senior rules, so check with your county tax assessor as soon as you close.
